The National Do Not Call List has finally come to Canada!

The National Do Not call list was launched in Canada at the end of September. For those of you who aren't aware of this new service, it's headed by the Government and the CRTC to help reduce the number of unwanted telemarketing calls. However, this will not stop companies from calling you if you've done business with them in the past 18 months.

So many Canadians wanted to jump on board right away that the servers were overloaded within hours of the site launching! The site seems to be stable now (crossing fingers). If you would like more information about the National Do Not Call List check out the DNCL brochure. You can go here to signup!

Is this permanent? No, you will have to re-submit your telephone number(s) every three years, or if your telephone number changes.

So what exactly happens if someone violates this policy?

New legislation gives the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications
Commission (CRTC) the power to assign penalties of up to $1,500 per infraction for individuals and $15,000 for corporations that do not follow the National DNCL rules.

I wonder if this will make a difference to the telemarketing world or will they find a way around it by making the calls from another country? Tell us what you think.

Try Glade Essential Oils Scented Oil Candles For Free

If you live in the Southern Ontario area, check your local paper and subscription newspaper this weekend for the Smart Source coupon magazine.

You'll find a free product coupon (fpc) to try any SC Johnson Glade Scented Oil Candle Holder or Oust Candle Holder FREE!

The coupon is valid until April 2009 and has no maximum redemption value. Prices vary on these depending on where you purchase, but you'll save around $6 to $9 by using this FPC.

I've purchased the Glade Scented Oils Candle Holder in the past and they leave a wonderful fragrant scent in the house. The downside is that the candles melt quite quickly and the refills were over priced in my opinion. Refill packages offer 3 candles, however, they are not included in this offer .

Here's some newspapers that it was found in:

Toronto Star
National Post
Brampton Guardian
Mississauga News
